Lake McMurtry Friends (LMF), Inc. is seeking to hire a full-time Marketing and Communications Director for Lake McMurtry Natural Resource and Recreation Area in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
This position is responsible for marketing, external communications projects, and day-to-day tasks that promote and enhance the image of Lake McMurtry. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and reviewing internal and external communication programs, and reports directly to the Executive Director.
Establish working relationships with media, solicit media coverage, develop media kits, write and edit copy, issue press releases, and place advertisements in order to maximize media exposure.
Develop and maintain an extensive short and long term marketing and public relations plan for Lake McMurtry.
Recruit volunteers and manage/coordinate volunteer database and activities.
Create promotional materials, such as PowerPoint presentations, DVDs, videos, etc.
Maintain data relating to all marketing efforts and submit reports as required.
Assist in the planning and coordination of special events and projects, and help educate and create local awareness of Lake McMurtry.
Solicit funding for Lake McMurtry through personal contacts and submission of grants.
Regularly attend special events and meetings.
Update and maintain the Lake McMurtry website including, links to other pages, and advertisers/sponsors.
Maintain database of e-mail addresses.
Provide social media presence in venues, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Assist in the daily business operations of the lake, such as customer service, taking reservations, cash register transactions, and answering phones.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of experience in marketing.
Self-motivated starter who can work with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Experience in coordinating and administering multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have excellent computer skills, including use of Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop and the ability to learn other software as required by the position.
Must have ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up assignments.
A valid and current driver’s license is required, as well as a good driving record. The applicant must have reliable transportation.
Applicants must agree to a comprehensive back ground check and drug test if required. Salary is commensurate with experience and is contingent on available funding. Position will begin as soon as filled.
